The take line area is recognized as the land between the Take Line (usually the rear lot line of lake shore property) and the lake pool. This land is owned by the City of Dallas and is leased to the City of Rowlett, who may sublease to property owners adjacent to the lake.

Residents living along the take line area that intend to improve the take line area must first obtain a sublease.  To sublease the take line area behind your home, you must bring in a copy of the survey of your property - it can be obtained by calling Winklemann & Associates at 972-490-7090. You must also bring in proof that you own the property adjacent to the take line area by showing a copy of your deed. The initial lease  is $600.00 and $350 annual renewal. If the property was owned before and a sublease was executed, the initial lease fee will not apply and only the yearly renewal will need to be paid and a new lease document with the new owner's information submitted. 

If you are interested in building a boat house, you must follow these guidelines (ORD-20-40). The  permit fee for a boat house is $300, and the fee for other Take-Area permits is $50.
