Permits and Licenses
Food Service Inspections and Permits
Persons owning, maintaining, conducting, operating or engaging in a food service business in the City of Rowlett must obtain a Food Service Permit yearly. A Certified Food Manager Certification may be required for the business as well.   • For permanent food establishments with dine-in (tables for patrons) the fee is $250
  • Permanent food establishments (schools, daycares and take out) the fee is $200
  • Mobile food vendors fee is $200

Applications may be picked up at the Community Services Division of the Rowlett Police Department or you may follow the Food Service Permit link above and fill out the application to submit via fax or e-mail. 


Repair Shop Licenses
Persons owning, maintaining, conducting, operating or engaging in a repair business in the City of Rowlett should obtain a Repair Shop License with Building Inspections. Repairs done on motor vehicles, electric equipment or electronic equipment require a license.
  • New licenses have a one-time fee of $75
  • Duplicate licenses or licenses that have been destroyed or lost are $2

Applications may be picked up in Building Inspections at 3901 Main Street.


Temporary Food Permits
Persons selling or publicly distributing food products for fund raisers, weekend events or evening events up to a maximum of three days must obtain a temporary food permit. The cost of the permit is $50.  Qualifying non-profit groups may be fee exempt, contact Community Services Division for more details. Temporary Food Permit applications may be picked up at the Community Services Division of the Rowlett Police Department or you may follow the Applications link above and fill out the application to submit via fax or email.

Our temporary food brochure will give you specifics that must be followed at each temporary food event and these temporary food permit policies are always in effect.  Lastly, sanitation instructions are included for your health and the health of our citizens.

Weekend Directional Sign Permits
Weekend signs for builders and real estate are allowed in the City of Rowlett from noon on Friday until noon on Monday. The fee for the permit for these signs is an annual fee of $150. Applications may be picked up at the Community Services Division of the Rowlett Police Department.
