The Rowlett Police Department Honor Guard is led by Lieutenant Michael McGough. The Honor Guard is formed of patrol division officers trained to provide formal representation of the Rowlett Police Department and the City Of Rowlett at a variety of functions including:
- Police officer funerals
- City sponsored parades
- Special events
- Selected City Council meetings
- Other formal events
Honor Guard members are called upon to:
- post colors at public events
- provide casket guards at funerals
- lead local parades with the colors (national and state flags)
- post colors at public events
Honor Guard officers have traveled to other cities within the state attending funerals of police officers killed in the line of duty, acting as the Rowlett Police Department's formal ambassadors.
