Arlan Brown Sherrill, Jr., better known as Brownie, is a lifelong resident of this area. He and his wife, SueAnn, have lived in Rowlett since 1991. Brownie has been a member of First Christian Church in Garland since he was two years old. His son and daughter-in-law live in Lago Vista, Texas, while SueAnn's daughter lives in Rowlett. Brownie and SueAnn have two great grandchildren.
Brownie is a graduate of Rowlett's Citizens Police Academy, Citizens Fire Academy, Citizens City Academy, and Leadership Rowlett Class XXVI. He has served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Charter Review Board, where he was a subcommittee chairman, and the Senior Advisory Board. He is an Ambassador with the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce, where he is a member of the Golf Tournament Committee. Brownie is also an active member of the Community Emergency Response Team. He is very much a public servant.
Brownie supports sustainable, well-planned growth for everyone, with a key focus on higher paying jobs, and of course, the infrastructure must be brought up to a sustainable level. He also supports competitive compensation for city employees.
He believes each project that comes before the City Council must be analyzed based on its own merits and facts.
