Lt.John Ellison is the Support Services Division Commander. He has over 32 years of police experience.

Lt. Ellison has served in numerous positions in his police career to include patrol, investigations, SWAT and Chief of Police. Lt. Ellison is a certified police officer in three states, including Texas, where he holds a Master Peace Officer license. Lt. Ellison is a certified instructor in numerous police subjects that include firearms, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, SWAT,Community Policing and numerous other subjects.

He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 207th Session, the FBI LEEDS Program 7th Session and holds a Master's in Criminal Justice from Boston University.

Mr. Ellison is a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant with over 24 years of service, having served in numerous assignments and locales. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. Originally starting with the Rowlett Police Department as a civilian division director, he was promoted to Lieutenant of Police in October of 2012.
