Communications Officer

The Rowlett Police Department is constantly on the lookout for qualified men and women interested in working in the communications section of our agency.  Please check the HR employment site to see if there is a current opening for this position.

The Rowlett Communication Center acts as an E911 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) for all police, fire and EMS calls received for the City of Rowlett. Our C.O.'s use a state of the art CAD (Computer Aided Dispatching) system to dispatch and track all calls for emergency services received by the communication center.

C.O.'s act as call takers and police and fire dispatchers, in other words, they do it all, from receiving the calls from citizens to dispatching and coordinating the police and fire units responding. This is not an easy job. The hours are sometimes long, and the stress levels can be high when working major incidents. But if you enjoy a personal challenge and a job that is different every day, this could be the job for you.
