Crisis Negotiation Team

The Rowlett Police Department formed a Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) within the department in early 1998. It is comprised of department members from all three divisions including Support Services.  All  team members meet the state requirements to perform the duties of hostage negotiation and attend advanced training schools annually to stay current. All are also members of the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators.

CNT Team members respond to critical incidents such as hostage situations, barricaded persons, suicidal subjects, and any other situation in which the introduction of a negotiator would lead to the peaceful resolution of an incident. Since both CNT and the SWAT Team's goals are so closely intertwined- the successful resolution of a Crisis situation by peaceful means, the two units train together regularly. During these scenarios, role players take the parts of hostages and suspects to add realism to the training.

Officer Scott Fundling of the Patrol Division is the OIC of the Crisis Negotiation Team. He can be reached at (972)412-6200 or by email.
