Covering more than 28,000 men and women from ancient times to present day, the Biographical Dictionary can be searched by birth years, death years, positions held, professions, literary and artistic works, achievements, and keywords. An interactive quiz about the achievements of historic figures is also available.

Use the Astronaut Biographies web site to find biographical information about current and past astronauts, astronaut candidates, and cosmonauts, from the U.S. and the International Space Station.
- Inventors
About.com Inventors provides information and links to information about inventors and inventions. Use the categories listed on the left side bar to select a more specific subject, such as women inventors, black inventors, or Chinese inventors. Use the A to Z inventors to search alphabetically by subject last name.
- Nobel Laureates
The Nobel eMuseum web site provides biographies of Nobel Laureates from 1901 to the present. Search by name or select the “More Laureates” link beneath each discipline. Other features of the site include games, articles, and information about each of the awards.
- Women Mathematicians
An ongoing project from Agnes Scott College (Atlanta, GA), this was created to illustrate the numerous achievements of women in the field of mathematics. The biographies can be searched alphabetically or chronologically. Also provided are sections on Ph.D.’s in Mathematics for women before 1930 and awards and honors for women mathematicians. - Biographical Dictionary of the United States Congress
The online Biographical Directory of the United States Congress indexes members from 1774 to the present. The site can be searched by last name, first name, position, state, party, year or congress number. For each member a biography, information about research collections, and a bibliography (when available) are provided.
- Presidents of the United States
Made available by the Internet Public Library, the Presidents of the United States (POTUS) website offers background information, election results, cabinet members, notable events, some points of interest, and links to additional internet resources on each of the United States presidents. The presidents are listed chronologically by term, however alphabetical indexes to names and subjects are also provided. [back to top]
